INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF A CHILD

Any nation, institution, family or individual must invest into the future for continuity and posterity. The tree is contained in the seed and the tree which represents the future of any nation is her young ones, so to secure the future, there must be deliberate and conscious attempt for investment into the children now.The guarantee of having a viable and predictable outcome in the future is to create it by what and how we sow into the lives of the children of today

However, there are several ways by which future generations can be nurtured to be a well-rounded and balanced individual without having deficit in one area and abundance in another.The following areas are very essential to having very balanced children who will eventually become adultsto be proud of in the near future.

1. INVESTMENT IN TRANCEDENTAL VALUES

It is said that the best investment in the child is the values that is embedded and ingrained into their system while they are yet adults. Positive values modeled and taught to child is a guarantee to becoming better individuals and citizens. One of the institutions that infuse the right sets of values in kid is the religious institution. Great values, beliefs systems and morals are built into them by these citadels of moral and Godly emblem. Great,viable and time tested religious institutions are a great value adding ground for children. The transcend values of integrity, respect, good mannerisms and trust are being infused into their being.

 

2.EDUCATIONAL INVESTMENT

Having a formal education guarantees and secures the future of the child because it daily and regularly builds their intellectual capacity and develops their cognitive skills. Exposing kids to good and positive knowledge not only builds their intellectual capacity but also their self-worth and confidence. This is an avenue for them to have the prepared ground for the required skills they might need in the future. Early exposure to the right and correct kind of material will ensure and shape their minds and thinking pattern.

 

3.FINANCIAL VALUES

They must be taught the earning culture.The value of hard work and respect for dignity of labour should be infused into children by telling them that they must prepare for the future by that which they do now. This is a way of preparing them for their economic and earning lives. They must be taught to respect and seek for value which is the true meaning of money. They must equally be taught saving culture. Teach them the culture of saving some of their pocket money for future investment and use.

 

4.PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

Appearing nice and clean must be one of the core values given to any child. Children must be taught to respect what they have by keeping it clean and pressed and that being nice gives honour to themselves, their God and the family they come from. They must be taught that they do not need all the designer clothes in the world to be acceptable. Acceptance comes first from who they are and they must always appear neat and not shabby.

 

5.EATING ETIQUETTE

Table mannerism and eating etiquette must be taught to them as well. They must know how much to eat per time and when to eat. Likewise, they must be taught how to eat especially when they visit friends and families. Good Eating habits are a pointer to the kind of home they are brought up in and the future they will create when they grow.

 

6.NUTRITIONAL VALUES

Values of eating the right kind of food per time must also be taught. They must know that in-between meals and junk food items must be kept to a minimum level. This value will teach them self-control about what they consume.

 

7.COURTESIES

Child must learn how to say please and thank you before and after any request. They must know they all people deserve to be respected irrespective of their status in life and that courtesies are universal in approach and appeal.

In all, child must have the love, support and encourage of those around them especially their immediate environment and must also be protected from those who would and might want to pry on their innocence and developing mind.
